Biography
Maria Milisavljević is a German-Serbian playwright whose work engages with migration, identity, and the invisible borders of contemporary Europe. She won the renowned Else Lasker-Schüler Drama Prize and the Authors' Prize of the Heidelberg Drama Market — two of the most important awards for German-language drama. Her plays such as Brandung and Beben combine poetic condensation with political sharpness and are shown at renowned stages like the Schauspiel Köln, Schauspiel Hannover, and Theater Heidelberg. Characteristic of her work is multilingualism — German, Serbian, and English merge into a hybrid theatrical language that reflects the experience between cultures.
