Biography
Lukas Schrenk was born in 1991, grew up in Heidelberg and studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin from 2011 to 2015. After engagements at the Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel, the Landestheater Detmold and Theater Ulm, he was a member of the ensemble of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden from 2019 to 2024. With Nils Strunk he founded the Neues Künstlertheater Berlin; together the two have staged their own versions of The Magic Flute and Stefan Zweig's Chess Story at Vienna's Burgtheater. For the Volksoper Wien they created Killing Carmen with the musician Gabriel Cazes, a continuation of Bizet's opera that premiered on 1 October 2025, with Schrenk mainly responsible for the text. In November 2025 the Burgtheater premiered their Gulliver's Travels after Jonathan Swift, for which he wrote the song lyrics.
