Biography
Lukas Rietzschel (born 1994) is a German writer from Upper Lusatia. His debut novel Mit der Faust in die Welt schlagen (2018), which depicts two brothers growing up in the eastern Saxon province and their gradual radicalisation, became a widely noted success and was frequently adapted for the stage. Rietzschel's work centres on the post-reunification experience, social upheaval, and alienation in rural East Germany. He is regarded as one of the incisive young voices making East German reality visible in literature and is also active in cultural policy in his home region.
