Biography

Luigi Giarda (1868–1952) was an Italian composer, cellist, and conductor who spent much of his life working in South America. Trained in Italy, he moved to Chile and Argentina, where he shaped musical life as a cello virtuoso, teacher, and conservatory director. Giarda was among the European musicians who contributed significantly to building academic music education in Latin America.
