Biography
Lotfullah Yusufi is an Afghan-Austrian performer and author whose life story has become stage work. Having fled to Austria alone at age 15 in 2015, he stood on stage for the first time in 2016 at the Burgtheater Vestibül — part of a pioneering programme that opened access to professional theatre work for refugee youth. Since then, Yusufi has developed his own texts and performance works that combine his migration experience with a poetic, often humorous language. His works have been shown at the Burgtheater, Schauspielhaus Wien, and festivals; he stands exemplarily for a new generation of Austrian theatre artists with refugee biographies who are lastingly changing Austrian theatre.
