Biography
Laura Kaminsky (born 1956) is an American composer whose work frequently engages with social and human-rights themes. Her best-known work is the chamber opera As One (2014), one of the most frequently performed contemporary operas in North America, which tells the story of a transgender woman. Kaminsky composes for opera, orchestra, and chamber ensemble; her style combines lyrical accessibility with serious thematic engagement.
