Biography
Kinsun Chan is a Canadian-Chinese choreographer and ballet director who has led the ballet at Theater St. Gallen since 2020. Before his directorial role, he danced with renowned companies in Canada, the USA, and Europe. His choreographies combine classical ballet technique with contemporary aesthetics and influences from Asian movement traditions. Characteristic of his work is a flowing, organic movement language that combines emotional depth with virtuoso technique. Under Chan's direction, Ballet St. Gallen has developed into one of the most distinguished contemporary dance companies in Switzerland; the repertoire encompasses both classical narrative ballets and contemporary choreographies by international guest choreographers.
