Biography
Kalpana Raghuraman is an Indian-Dutch choreographer and dancer who in her works combines classical Indian dance (Bharatanatyam) with contemporary Western dance language. With her company Kalpanarts based in the Netherlands, she is among the most distinguished voices for intercultural dance practice in Europe. Her choreographies are shown at international dance festivals and reflect questions of migrant identity, cultural hybridity, and translatability between dance traditions.
