Biography
Jack Thorne was born on 6 December 1978 in Bristol and studied politics at Pembroke College, Cambridge, graduating in 2002. Since the mid-2000s he has written for television, theatre and film, becoming known for the series Skins, the This Is England sequel series, and his own creations The Fades and National Treasure. His best-known work for the stage is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (2016), written from a story he developed with J. K. Rowling and John Tiffany, for which he won the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2017 and the Tony Award for Best Play in 2018. For television he also adapted Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy (2019–2022) and wrote the widely acclaimed 2025 miniseries Adolescence.
