Biography
Francis Poulenc was born in 1899 in Paris and belonged to the Groupe des Six. With Dialogues des Carmélites (1957) he created one of the most moving operas of the twentieth century. Poulenc's music combines lightness and depth in a unique way. He was also a significant composer of art songs. He died in 1963 in Paris.
