Biography
Dead Centre was founded in Dublin in 2012 by Ben Kidd, Bush Moukarzel and Adam Welsh; today Moukarzel and Kidd lead the company as its writers and directors. Its first production, Souvenir, premiered at the Dublin Fringe in 2012, and Lippy won Best Production there in 2013. Later works include Chekhov's First Play and Hamnet, whose scripts, like that of Lippy, have been published in book form. Their pieces often start from historical figures and combine fact and fiction using video and other technical means. Besides Dublin, the company works in Vienna, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Gothenburg and London; The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud premiered at Vienna's Akademietheater on 17 January 2020, and the Burgtheater also staged Everything That Is the Case, about Ludwig Wittgenstein.
