Biography
Christian Baron was born in 1985 in Kaiserslautern. He studied political science, sociology and German studies in Trier and then worked for several years as a newspaper editor, including for the weekly "der Freitag". In 2016 he published the non-fiction book "Proleten, Pöbel, Parasiten" on the estrangement between the working class and the political left. His autobiographical novel "Ein Mann seiner Klasse" (2020), about a childhood in Kaiserslautern shaped by poverty and his father's violence, marked his literary breakthrough; the book won the Klaus-Michael-Kühne-Preis in 2020 and the "Aufstieg durch Bildung" literary prize of the noon Foundation in 2021. It was followed by "Schön ist die Nacht" (2022) and "Drei Schwestern" (2025), which together form a Kaiserslautern trilogy. In 2023 Baron held the Tübingen Poetics lectureship.
