Biography
Cassie Kinoshi is a British composer and saxophonist of Japanese-British origin, among the most distinguished voices of contemporary British jazz and stage music. With her SEED Ensemble, she was nominated for the renowned Mercury Prize in 2019. Kinoshi's compositions combine jazz, classical music, and political reflection into an independent sound language; she regularly writes stage music for theatre and dance productions, including at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Royal Court London. Her work critically reflects colonial history and Black British identity.
