Biography
Aslı Kışlal, born 1979 in Turkey, is an Austrian theatre director and author of Turkish origin. She is among the most important voices of post-migrant theatre in Austria and works regularly at Vienna's Burgtheater and Volkstheater. Her productions deal uncompromisingly with identity, racism, and societal structures, giving voice to marginalised positions. As founder of the theatre platform daskunst, she has also contributed structurally to diversity in the Austrian theatre landscape. Her works have been nominated for several Austrian and international theatre prizes and shown at festivals like the Wiener Festwochen.
