Biography
Adam Guettel (born 1964) is an American composer and lyricist, grandson of Richard Rodgers and thus heir to a great Broadway tradition. His acclaimed work The Light in the Piazza (2005) won the Tony Award for Best Score and is famous for its lyrical, almost operatic sound. Guettel is regarded as one of the most musically demanding composers of his generation; his output is small but of high artistic density, combining his grandfather's melodic tradition with modern harmonic complexity.
