Biography
Adam Benzwi is an Israeli-German conductor, pianist, and musical director among the most distinguished specialists for operetta and musical in the German-speaking region. As long-time Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper Berlin under Barrie Kosky, he played a decisive role in rediscovering the operetta repertoire of the 1920s — works like Eine Frau, die weiß, was sie will, Ball im Savoy, and Frau Luna were brought back to life under his musical direction. Benzwi stands for a historically informed yet never museal reading of operetta and has substantially contributed to the international renaissance of the genre.
