About the work
“Neuer Versuch” (“New Attempt”) is a play created and directed by the twin brothers Clément and Guillaume Papachristou for Staatsschauspiel Dresden, receiving its world premiere on 26 September 2026 at the Kleines Haus 1. It continues the brothers' collaborative work, which has explored questions of body, disability and self-image on stage since their 2020 production “Une tentative presque comme une autre”.
Plot
Two permanent ensemble members meet two guest performers with disabilities; through conversation and shared dance, the four explore how others perceive them, how they see themselves, and whether they would wish for a different body. Using fog, gauze and mirrors, they temporarily transform into mythological figures and other characters to question their own life paths anew.
Cultural significance
The piece continues the Papachristou brothers' inclusive theatre practice, which seeks to make visible their own and others' experiences of embodiment beyond conventional stage representation.
