About the work
“Mythen des Alltags” (Myths of Everyday Life) is a collective narrative by Swedish director Mattias Andersson, built from almost a hundred interviews with people in Vienna, conducted with the University of Vienna's Department of Sociology. The question: is there a particular moment of your life you would like to see performed? From answers ranging from the banal to the existential, the comic to the dramatic, the Volkstheater ensemble creates a polyphonic portrait of the city through rapid role changes, probing the relationship between reality and fiction. It premiered in May 2026 as a co-production with the Wiener Festwochen and has since joined the Volkstheater repertoire.
