About the work
Inter Alia is a contemporary courtroom drama by Australian playwright Suzie Miller, which premiered on 23 July 2025 at the Lyttelton Theatre, National Theatre London, directed by Justin Martin and starring Rosamund Pike. It is regarded as a possible second instalment in a loose trilogy following Miller's earlier success Prima Facie (2019).
Plot
The play follows Jessica Parks, a committed Crown Court judge who campaigns for a fairer handling of sexual assault cases. When her own teenage son is accused of rape, her professional convictions collide with her role as a mother. Courtroom scenes, live music and flashbacks are used to explore questions of consent and parenting in the digital age.
Cultural significance
The London run sold out before rehearsals even began and was broadcast in cinemas by National Theatre Live in September 2025; at the 2026 Laurence Olivier Awards, Rosamund Pike won Best Actress and Miller was nominated for Best New Play. The production is set to transfer to Broadway in late 2026.
