Founded in 1976, Folkoperan on Södermalm presents immediate, accessible music theatre and performs mainly in Swedish. Since 1984 the company has occupied the former Rio cinema on Hornsgatan, where the absence of an orchestra pit creates unusual proximity between audience, singers and musicians.
