Biography
Yishai Sarid was born in Tel Aviv in 1965. He served as an intelligence officer in the Israeli army, studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and earned a Master of Public Administration from Harvard in 1999; he then worked as a prosecutor in Tel Aviv before setting up his own practice as a lawyer. He published his first novel in 2000, followed by works including “Limassol” (2009), “The Memory Monster” (2017), “Victorious” (2020) and “Vulnerabilities” (2023), which appeared in German with Kein & Aber. His books deal with the intelligence services and the army, the memory of the Holocaust and present-day Israel. He received the French Grand Prix de Littérature Policière for “Limassol” in 2011, the Brenner Prize for “Vulnerabilities” in 2023 and the Agnon Prize in 2025. “The Memory Monster” was adapted for the stage as a monodrama that won an award at the Teatronetto Festival in 2021.
