Sina Ahlers

Biography

Sina Ahlers was born in Stuttgart in 1990. She studied German philology and philosophy in Tübingen and began a degree in dramaturgy at the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst in Ludwigsburg before moving to the Berlin University of the Arts, where she studied scenic writing from 2016 to 2020. She has been writing texts for theatre productions since 2017; the youth play “#BerlinBerlin”, which she developed with Uta Bierbaum, Günter Jankowiak and Jörg Steinberg for Theater Strahl, won the Friedrich Luft Prize in 2018. In 2019 she won the prose prize and the taz audience prize at the 27th open mike, and in 2020 her play “Schamparadies” received an author’s prize at the Heidelberger Stückemarkt. Her commissioned play “Milch & Schuld”, about surrogacy, premiered at Staatstheater Kassel in December 2024; from 2024 to 2026 she was artist in residence at Theater Bielefeld, where her play “Die Allianz”, directed by Marie Schwesinger, premiered in 2025. Besides writing for the stage she writes poetry and prose, and in 2022 she stayed at the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin on a residency grant from the Berlin Senate.
