Biography

Shlomi Shaban was born in Tel Aviv in 1976 and began playing piano as a child, later training at the Royal College of Music in London under Shulamit Aronovsky. Since 1998 he has released his own albums as a singer-songwriter and pianist spanning pop, rock and classical influences, including “Ir” (2007) and “Migdal HaPzamon” (2009); “Ir” earned him an ACUM composer's award in 2008. Alongside his solo career he has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and composed music for film and theatre. For the music-theatre piece “Slippery Slope” (2021), developed at Berlin's Maxim Gorki Theatre, he wrote the music and co-wrote the text together with Yael Ronen.
