Biography
Sarah Kilter was born in Berlin in 1994 and studied scenic writing at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) from 2016 to 2020. Since graduating she has worked as a freelance writer for theatre, radio, film and television. Her play “White Passing” was one of the three winning texts of the 2021 Autor:innentheatertage, opened in September 2021 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin as a co-production with Schauspiel Leipzig, directed by Thirza Bruncken, and was nominated for the Mülheim Drama Prize in 2022. That same year the critics’ poll of the magazine Theater heute named her emerging playwright of the year. Schauspiel Leipzig went on to premiere “Von Wunden und Wundern” in the 2024/25 season; her commissioned play “Mysteryland” was staged by Anne Habermehl at Theater Aachen in November 2025, and the production was invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2026. Her radio work includes “Mädchenliegestütze” (Deutschlandfunk Kultur, 2019).
