Biography
Peggy Mädler was born in Dresden in 1976 and studied theatre studies, education and cultural studies at Humboldt University Berlin, completing a doctorate in cultural studies there in 2008. She works as a freelance dramaturge, director and author, and in 2007 co-founded the collective „Labor für kontrafaktisches Denken“ with Julia Schleipfer. Her debut novel „Legende vom Glück des Menschen“ appeared in 2011, and her second novel „Wohin wir gehen“ (2019) won the Fontane Literature Prize awarded by the city of Neuruppin and the state of Brandenburg. In 2024 she published the conversational book „Drei ostdeutsche Frauen betrinken sich und gründen den idealen Staat“ together with Annett Gröschner and Wenke Seemann, which was also staged as a play at Staatsschauspiel Dresden. She lives in Berlin.
