Biography
Neil Bartram was born in the United Kingdom, grew up in Canada and writes music and lyrics for musical theatre. Most of his stage works were written with book writer Brian Hill, among them The Story of My Life, which premiered in Toronto in 2006, reached Broadway in 2009 and received four Drama Desk Award nominations, two of them for Bartram's music and lyrics. Further collaborations include a musical version of Timothy Findley's novel Not Wanted on the Voyage, Something Wicked This Way Comes after Ray Bradbury, The Adventures of Pinocchio and The Theory of Relativity, which opened at Goodspeed Musicals in 2015. For Disney's stage version of Bedknobs and Broomsticks he added new songs to the Sherman Brothers' score; the production toured the UK in 2021/22. He wrote a new score for Shakespeare in Love at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, which was nominated for a Jeff Award, and his other honours include the ASCAP Foundation's Yellen Award, a Jonathan Larson Foundation Award and a Dora Award.
