Biography
Maya Arad Yasur was born in Ramat Gan in 1976. She studied theatre and communication at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and dramaturgy at the University of Amsterdam, and earned a doctorate in theatre studies from Tel Aviv University. She worked as a production dramaturg in the Netherlands and Israel, including on several works by theatre-maker Sanja Mitrović. In 2010 she won the ITI/UNESCO playwriting competition with “Diamond Stars” (German title “In der Schwebe”), and in 2014 she received the Habima award for emerging artists for “God Waits at the Station”. Her play “Amsterdam” (2018) earned her the commission award of the Stückemarkt at the Berlin Theatertreffen, which led to “Bomb”, premiered at Schauspiel Köln in 2020. In 2022 she received the Rosenblum Prize for the performing arts in Tel Aviv.
