Biography
Mason Bates, born in 1977, is an American composer known for blending the classical orchestra with electronic sound. He is one of the most performed living composers in the United States and has served as composer in residence at the Kennedy Center and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. His opera “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” premiered at Santa Fe in 2017 and won a Grammy. For the Metropolitan Opera he wrote “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay”, which opened the Met's 2025–26 season.
