Biography
Markus Winter, born near Stuttgart in 1982, performs as a rapper, songwriter and producer under the stage name Maeckes and is signed to the Stuttgart label Chimperator Productions. He first became known in the duo Maeckes & Plan B, with whom he also developed “RapUpComedy”, a stage format mixing rap, stand-up and theatre, and as a member of the hip-hop group Die Orsons. His solo albums include “Kids” (2010), “Tilt” (2016), “Pool” (2021), which reached number 3 on the German album chart, and “gitarren album” (2024); from 2021 to 2023 he also acted in the television series “Deadlines”. After a show marking the release of “Pool” in autumn 2021 he returned regularly to the Staatsoper Stuttgart with his own formats. For the company he wrote the libretto of “Der rote Wal – Ein deutsches Herbstmärchen” with music by Vivan and Ketan Bhatti; he had developed the story with the director Martin G. Berger. The opera premiered on 18 June 2025, and in the Stuttgart production he also played the tech billionaire Lone himself.
