Biography
Ken Ludwig was born in 1950 in York, Pennsylvania, and studied at Haverford College, Harvard University and Trinity College, Cambridge. Alongside his playwriting he worked for years as an intellectual-property lawyer. His mistaken-identity farce "Lend Me a Tenor," first staged as "Opera Buffa" in New Hampshire in 1985 and a hit in London in 1986, brought him international recognition. Further comedies followed, including "Moon over Buffalo" (1995) and musical books such as "Crazy for You" (1992) and "An American in Paris" (2008). Ludwig has won the Laurence Olivier Award twice and received multiple Tony nominations; his plays rank among the most widely produced contemporary comedies in English-language theatre.
