Biography
Johannes Müller studied directing at the Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin and has since worked as a director, dramaturg and author in experimental music theatre. While still a student he directed productions at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Volksbühne Berlin and Ballhaus Ost, and was a founding member of the music theatre collective Oper Dynamo West. With Philine Rinnert he has developed music theatre projects for independent venues such as Sophiensæle Berlin, Kampnagel Hamburg and Brut Wien as well as for state theatres such as the Bavarian State Opera Munich and Staatsoper Stuttgart. Together with Cordula Däuper he writes the book for biographical music theatre evenings about musical figures such as Cole Porter, Clara Schumann and Fanny Hensel, most recently “Comedian Harmonists” at Nationaltheater Mannheim. In 2025 he was a fellow at Villa Aurora/Thomas Mann House in Los Angeles.
