Biography
Johann Baptist Henneberg was born in Vienna in 1768 and died there in 1822. He worked as a composer, pianist and organist, first at the Freihaustheater and later at the Theater an der Wien, also serving for a time at the Esterházy court in Eisenstadt before becoming organist of the imperial court chapel in 1818. He collaborated with Emanuel Schikaneder on several operas for the Freihaustheater, including 'Der Stein der Weisen' in 1790, for which he composed most of the music. After Mozart himself conducted the first three performances of Die Zauberflöte, Henneberg took over musical direction of the performances that followed. In 1797 he also worked alongside Beethoven on a set of dances.
