Biography
Joachim Meyerhoff was born in 1967 in Homburg in the Saarland, grew up in Schleswig and trained as an actor at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich from 1989 to 1992. After engagements in Kassel, Bielefeld, Dortmund and Cologne he acted at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin and, from 2002 to 2005, at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, often in productions directed by Jan Bosse. From 2005 to 2019 he was a member of the ensemble of Vienna's Burgtheater, and then of the Schaubühne in Berlin until 2024. At the Burgtheater he developed the six-part storytelling evening “Alle Toten fliegen hoch”, whose first three parts were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2009. Between 2011 and 2024 he published six autobiographical novels under this series title with Kiepenheuer & Witsch, among them “Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke” (2015) and “Man kann auch in die Höhe fallen” (2024). He was named Actor of the Year by the magazine Theater heute several times, received the Nestroy Theatre Prize and, in 2019, the Gustaf Gründgens Prize.
