Biography
Isabella Sedlak was born in Wiener Neustadt in 1981. She studied theatre, film and media studies as well as economics and social sciences in Vienna and Southampton, and then worked as a musician and in film and television, among other things. In Berlin she assisted at the Deutsches Theater and the Maxim Gorki Theater, for instance with Yael Ronen, Lola Arias and Sebastian Nübling; in Vienna she founded the collective Bauer+Baum. As a freelance director she has staged, among others, Dino Pešut's Lebensmenschen (2019) at Theater Drachengasse, Krampus: Pelz und Puderzucker (2021) at the Gorki and europa verschwindet … at Schauspiel Dortmund. Together with the actor Yousef Sweid she wrote the solo play Between the River and the Sea, which she premiered at the Gorki in 2025 and which was later shown at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and London's Royal Court Theatre, among other venues.
