Biography
Georges Feydeau was born in Paris in 1862, the son of the novelist Ernest Feydeau. Between 1881 and 1916 he wrote around 39 plays, often taking part as actor or director in their staging, and brought the vaudeville tradition established by Eugène Labiche to its peak. With hits such as Un fil à la patte (1894), A Flea in Her Ear (1907) and Occupe-toi d'Amélie! (1908), he became the most performed boulevard playwright of his day. Feydeau died in 1921 in Rueil, near Paris.
