Felix Krakau

Biography

Felix Krakau was born in Hamburg in 1990 and works as a freelance director and writer. He studied theatre directing at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and took playwriting as a guest student at the Berlin University of the Arts. In 2019 his production of “Peer Gynt” after Henrik Ibsen won the Körber Studio Junge Regie prize. He wrote his monologue “Showtime (ein enttäuschender Abend)” as a commission for the Staatstheater Darmstadt, where he directed its premiere in March 2022; further productions followed in Osnabrück, Essen and Leipzig, among other cities. “Celebration (Florida)”, developed in the Drama Lab of the Wiener Wortstaetten, took third place in the Else Lasker-Schüler Play Prize in 2024 and premiered at the Landestheater Linz in April that year, shortly followed by “Elektra (the show must go on)” at the Volkstheater Wien. He has been represented by Rowohlt Theater Verlag since 2024 and has worked as a director and writer at venues including the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Theater Bremen, Schauspiel Essen and the state theatres of Darmstadt and Augsburg.
