Biography
Cordula Däuper grew up in Wiesbaden and studied music theatre direction at the Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin. In 2005 she made her directing debut with Ernst Toch's “Die Prinzessin auf der Erbse” at the Komische Oper Berlin, after having been a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Bank Foundation's Academy Musiktheater heute from 2003 to 2005 and receiving the academy's 2005 promotional award for her staged version of Schubert's song cycle “Die schöne Müllerin”. She has since directed at venues including Nationaltheater Weimar, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Theater Koblenz, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Neuköllner Oper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Stadttheater Bern, Theater Lübeck, Nationaltheater Mannheim and Staatstheater Mainz, and has repeatedly been named best director of the year by the trade journal “Die Deutsche Bühne”. Alongside classical repertoire she develops her own biographical music theatre evenings such as “FANNY! – Wer will mir wehren zu singen?” about Fanny Hensel and “CASTING CLARA” about Clara Schumann, and co-writes the book for pieces such as “Comedian Harmonists” at Nationaltheater Mannheim together with Johannes Müller.
