Biography
Claude De Demo was born in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, in 1980 and studied acting at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts from 1999 to 2003. Permanent engagements took her to the Bühnen der Stadt Köln (2003–2005), Schauspielhaus Bochum (2005–2009) and Schauspiel Frankfurt (2009–2015); after that she worked freelance, including at Theater Neumarkt in Zurich. She was named best young actress at the NRW Theatertreffen in 2004 and received the Bochum Theatre Prize in 2007. From the 2020/21 season she was a member of the Berliner Ensemble, where she played Marie in Fassbinder’s “Katzelmacher” directed by Michael Thalheimer, among other roles. Together with Jorinde Dröse she developed “#Motherfuckinghood”, a text collage on motherhood and care work that opened at the Berliner Ensemble’s Neues Haus on 1 February 2024. She is now a member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Köln and also works in film, television and numerous radio plays.
