Biography

Christian Palustran was born in 1947 in Saint-Cloud, near Paris. After studying at the Sorbonne, he became a teacher in Normandy while also beginning to write short stories and plays. He has written around thirty works for the stage in a wide range of forms — from comedies to tragic monologues to plays for young audiences — often aiming to address contemporary issues through fantastical settings. His best-known play, the epistolary drama "A Yellow Butterfly Called Sphinx," has been translated into several languages and performed internationally. From 2009 to 2019, Palustran also directed the Francophone theatre festival "La Première" in Kirov, Russia.
