Biography
Calle Fuhr was born in Düsseldorf in 1994 and learned his craft as an assistant director at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, in Prague and at the Volkstheater in Vienna, where he staged Heiner Müller’s “Philoktet” at the age of 22. His monologue “In die Sterne” premiered under his direction at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 2018. From 2020 he was a permanent member of the Volkstheater Vienna, where he developed evenings with the investigative platform Dossier such as “Heldenplätze” (2021) and “Aufstieg und Fall des Herrn René Benko” (2024); for the Staatstheater Cottbus he wrote “Das Kraftwerk” (2023) with Correctiv. Both research pieces were invited to the radikal jung festival. Since the 2025/26 season he has been house author and house director at Schauspiel Köln, where he is responsible for the focus on theatre and journalism; announced there are “Die Deutsche Bahn AG” (2026) and, together with Traudl Bünger, “Der Tag, an dem ich Cum/Ex verstand” (2027).
