Biography

Alexandre de La Patellière was born on 24 June 1971 in Paris, the son of film director Denys de La Patellière. After starting out as an assistant director and script doctor in the late 1990s, he has worked regularly since a decisive meeting in 2004 with writer Matthieu Delaporte, the two developing plots together while usually writing dialogue separately. The comedy "Le Prénom" (2010) and its own film version (2012) brought both authors international success, followed by further stage plays such as "Un dîner d'adieu" (2014) and "Tout ce que vous voulez" (2016). His film work, most recently the novel adaptation "Le Comte de Monte-Cristo" (2024), has earned him several César nominations. In 2025 he was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
